Safety Measures Prior to a Breast Uplift Surgery
Women who are about to undergo a breast uplift surgery or mastopexy must be aware of the safety precautions they need to follow if they don’t wish to endanger their health and the result of their cosmetic operation. One week prior to surgery, patients will be asked to answer a questionnaire that will determine that status of their health and entire body in preparation for the treatment they will be having. In case they have other medical conditions, they must get a heart and blood tracing tests. All of these check-ups before the surgery must be administered to guarantee the patient of a safe and successful mastopexy.
Below are added precautions all patients must do before going under the knife for a breast uplift surgery:
Food and Fluid Abstinence
Patients are asked to abstain from taking any food and cloudy fluids six hours prior to having their mastopexy operation. It must be six hours flat of abstinence since foods and non-clear liquids like carrot juice or cola takes time for the stomach to digest. But taking of clear fluids like water can be stopped two hours before surgery for they are easily absorb by the stomach.
Quit Using Non-steroidal Medicines
Intake of non-steroidal drugs, for example aspirin, Nurofen, Voltarol, need to be stopped a week before a breast uplift surgery. The reason for this drugs restriction is because these sorts of medications encourage blood thinning and can also increase the risk of bleeding during the operation.
Cease Smoking
Smoking can interfere with the body’s ability to supply blood on the skin, plus it can also hamper a quick and danger-free healing process after a surgery. Therefore, patients are strictly advised to cease smoking two weeks prior to having their breast uplift operation.
Don’t Use Ointments
On the exact day of the breast uplift surgery, the entire breast area must be clean; thus ointments application must be avoided for they interfere with the antiseptic lotions applied on the skin during the operation.
Nail Polish Removal
Blood saturation checking through the nails is done throughout the surgery, so any nail polish must be taken out before the cosmetic procedure is administered.
To make sure that the patient will not suffer any complications following the operation and also to ensure them of a successful result, all of the above mentioned safety measures before a breast uplift surgery must be followed by everyone scheduled to undergo the operation.
